Aqasis

Aqasis turns Islamic storytelling into a cinematic experience built for the way people watch on their phones. Short Stories combine original artwork, narration, timed captions, and music in a personalized vertical feed. Discovery uses viewing progress, likes, and category affinity while balancing variety and keeping the feed stable during a visit. The media experience is assembled at playback: captions and background music remain independently controllable instead of being permanently baked into the video. Story-language variants and an English/Arabic interface extend the experience across audiences. One-time sponsorships fund existing or custom Stories while everyone can watch for free. Optygate built the iOS, Android, and web experiences and the shared backend connecting production, discovery, playback, and sponsorship fulfillment.

The Challenge

The difficult part was making an entire media system behave as one responsive experience on a phone. Fast swipes can exhaust native video decoders; recycled feed cells and late network responses can start the wrong Story. Captions and a separate music track must follow pauses, seeks, buffering, and language changes precisely. Personalized ranking must avoid reshuffling the Story under the viewer. Sponsorship purchases must survive interruptions and reconcile with backend fulfillment across Apple and Google billing.

Our Solution

Optygate built a shared pool of four reusable native video players with ownership checks, cancellation, and controlled preloading to avoid creating a decoder for every feed cell. A playback clock coordinates word-timed captions and a separate music track through seeking and buffering, with shared caption contracts across native, web, and video exports. Behavior-based ranking favors relevant Stories, limits repeated categories, and fixes the order for each feed visit. Language-aware media resolution and RTL layouts support localization without rebuilding the video for caption changes. Server verification and persisted purchase recovery connect native sponsorship payments to fulfillment without blocking public playback.
